The bamboo revolution

The future of construction is greener than you think

As you read this text, our highland bamboo is growing almost an inch again. In 24 hours, it will be one meter higher again.
While many talk about sustainability, the future is growing for us. Literally. At a speed of up to one meter per day. And a strength that rivals even steel.

Looks like wood. Is stronger than steel.

The benefits of bamboo as a building material

In 30 years, we have developed a material that sets new standards in many areas:

Unbeatable hardness

  • Durability class 1 (highest level)
  • UV-resistant
  • Resistant to insects and fungi
  • 25+ years lifespan

Minimal effort

  • Minimal maintenance
  • Easy cleaning
  • No special tools required
  • Professional care products available

Beautifully

  • Natural wood look
  • Largest variety of colors
  • No annoying knotholes
  • Uniform structure

Out of time? Quite the opposite!

What was considered the secret of Asian architecture for centuries is now setting new standards in modern construction:

  • While a tree takes 80 years to grow, bamboo shoots up in just a few years
  • While felled trees are lost forever, bamboo grows back from the same root over and over again
  • While wood loses stability over the years, our processed bamboo even exceeds the hardness of oak

With AMBOOO, we combine thousands of years of knowledge with cutting-edge technology.

The result: decking boards, façade systems, barn planks and fences that are not only sustainable but also set standards in terms of hardness, durability and aesthetics.

“But bamboo? Really?”

We know that moment. The skeptical look. The raised eyebrow. The hidden doubt.

“Isn't that the soft wood that toothbrushes and breakfast boards are made of? ”
We are familiar with this objection — and this is exactly where it gets exciting:

Our highland bamboo, which we use for our decking, goes through a completely different processing process.
The result? A material that is harder than most tropical woods:

  • Our bamboo products reach a Brinell hardness level of 9.7
  • By way of comparison, oak comes in at 3.4
  • Even high-quality tropical wood lags behind

“But does that last? ”
Our oldest terraces have been in use for over 20 years — from Dubai to Scandinavia. And they are far from the end of their useful life! When properly cared for, your bamboo product is a companion for life.

Thanks to our HCS technology, a material is created that withstands extreme temperatures, high loads and all weathers. Even termites literally bite their teeth out.

From grass to high-tech material

In three decades, we have perfected a technology that sounds like science fiction: Grass is turned into a building material that competes with steel.

What makes our bamboo so special?

More than just bamboo

The answer lies in our HCS (High Compressed Strands) process, which has been developed over the years.

This involves compacting bamboo fibers under high pressure and at precisely controlled temperatures to form a material that not only achieves but exceeds the best properties of wood:

  • No knots or branches
  • Minimal swelling and shrinkage
  • Extremely high density
  • Highest dimensional stability
  • Care oils made in Germany

The result? Products that not only look good, but also deliver what they promise.

Material density: 1,250 kg/m³ (for comparison: oak approx. 700 kg/m³)
Hardness level:9.7 Brinell (oak: 3.4 Brinell)
Dimensional stability:< 0.14% (three times more stable than comparable woods)
Moisture absorption: < 0.3% (minimizes risk of deformation)
Durability class:1 (highest classification according to EN 350-2)
UV resistance:Class A (highest resistance to greying)

These qualities are not claims. They are tested by independent laboratories and internationally certified - from FSC certification for sustainable forestry to CO2 negativity certification.

The CO2 balance of bamboo

But here's the point that makes bamboo truly revolutionary: the CO2 balance.

A bamboo forest stores up to four times more CO2 than a comparable timber forest. And the best part? After harvesting, the bamboo simply grows back. Without new plantings. No clear-cutting. Without a break.

In concrete terms, this means:

  • One square meter of ambooo bamboo stores around 300 kg of CO2
  • The plant regenerates itself within 5 years (ready for harvest)
  • No deforestation required
  • Negative CO2 balance even after transport

Our products

Bamboo: The ideal choice for sustainable and long-lasting construction projects

Bamboo offers exceptional durability and ruggedness that can compete with traditional materials. It combines the warmth of wood with the sustainability that environmentally conscious consumers are looking for. It is also easy to clean and therefore ideal for a wide range of applications in construction and gardening.
