The bamboo revolution
As you read this text, our highland bamboo is growing almost an inch again. In 24 hours, it will be one meter higher again.
While many talk about sustainability, the future is growing for us. Literally. At a speed of up to one meter per day. And a strength that rivals even steel.

The benefits of bamboo as a building material
In 30 years, we have developed a material that sets new standards in many areas:
Unbeatable hardness
- Durability class 1 (highest level)
- UV-resistant
- Resistant to insects and fungi
- 25+ years lifespan
Minimal effort
- Minimal maintenance
- Easy cleaning
- No special tools required
- Professional care products available
Beautifully
- Natural wood look
- Largest variety of colors
- No annoying knotholes
- Uniform structure

Out of time? Quite the opposite!
What was considered the secret of Asian architecture for centuries is now setting new standards in modern construction:
- While a tree takes 80 years to grow, bamboo shoots up in just a few years
- While felled trees are lost forever, bamboo grows back from the same root over and over again
- While wood loses stability over the years, our processed bamboo even exceeds the hardness of oak
With AMBOOO, we combine thousands of years of knowledge with cutting-edge technology.
The result: decking boards, façade systems, barn planks and fences that are not only sustainable but also set standards in terms of hardness, durability and aesthetics.
“But bamboo? Really?”
We know that moment. The skeptical look. The raised eyebrow. The hidden doubt.
“Isn't that the soft wood that toothbrushes and breakfast boards are made of? ”
We are familiar with this objection — and this is exactly where it gets exciting:
Our highland bamboo, which we use for our decking, goes through a completely different processing process.
The result? A material that is harder than most tropical woods:
- Our bamboo products reach a Brinell hardness level of 9.7
- By way of comparison, oak comes in at 3.4
- Even high-quality tropical wood lags behind
“But does that last? ”
Our oldest terraces have been in use for over 20 years — from Dubai to Scandinavia. And they are far from the end of their useful life! When properly cared for, your bamboo product is a companion for life.
Thanks to our HCS technology, a material is created that withstands extreme temperatures, high loads and all weathers. Even termites literally bite their teeth out.

From grass to high-tech material
In three decades, we have perfected a technology that sounds like science fiction: Grass is turned into a building material that competes with steel.
The CO2 balance of bamboo
But here's the point that makes bamboo truly revolutionary: the CO2 balance.
A bamboo forest stores up to four times more CO2 than a comparable timber forest. And the best part? After harvesting, the bamboo simply grows back. Without new plantings. No clear-cutting. Without a break.
In concrete terms, this means:
- One square meter of ambooo bamboo stores around 300 kg of CO2
- The plant regenerates itself within 5 years (ready for harvest)
- No deforestation required
- Negative CO2 balance even after transport

Bamboo: The ideal choice for sustainable and long-lasting construction projects
Bamboo offers exceptional durability and ruggedness that can compete with traditional materials. It combines the warmth of wood with the sustainability that environmentally conscious consumers are looking for. It is also easy to clean and therefore ideal for a wide range of applications in construction and gardening.
FAQ
Bamboo is a sustainable super plant because it...
- grows up to 1m a day and thus offers huge resources
- is undemanding in growth and requires little water, no fertilizer or pesticides
- 35% more oxygen than trees produce
- Absorbs and stores 6x more CO2 than trees
- Does not die when harvested, but sprouts again
- provides protection against erosion due to its dense roots
- provides socio-economic benefits as a source of income in economically weaker regions
- saves resources due to the durability of the products
- protects (rain) forests as an alternative to hard and tropical woods
In general, AMBOOO bamboo decking boards offer slip resistance in accordance with DIN 51097 and DIN 51130 - R12. The smooth side of the decking board is even more slip-resistant than the profiled side. With profiled sides, weather or environmental influences, such as rain and frost or pollen, dirt, etc. play a greater role and can become more slippery.
The advantages of the smooth side are easier cleaning and care. Visually, natural, weather-related changes in the material can be more noticeable, but can also be processed faster and better.
Due to the properties, such as the particularly high density, of our bamboo profiles, a special bamboo care oil has been developed that is tailored to them. The use of wood care oils or cooking oils does not work on bamboo, as they do not bond with the surface structure and do not dry and protect.
AMBOOO care oil is a water-based thin-layer glaze that has been tailored to bamboo over many years of development. Development and production take place in Germany and meet the highest quality standards. The oil not only refreshes the colour, but also protects the material from the elements.
Our decking boards are extremely durable and will last for many years. Due to their high dimensional stability, they are particularly resistant to weather effects and deformations.
Yes, our decking boards are easy to install. With our clear instructions and the right accessories, you can easily design your own patio.
