The AMBOOO story
What if we stopped destroying forests to build terraces, facades, fences, and more?
What if the best material for your outdoor living room grows back four times faster than wood — and is stronger than steel?
Sounds crazy?
That was exactly what everyone thought in 1993 when a young foreign trade salesman in China had a wild idea: to see bamboo not just as an exotic plant, but as a revolution in construction.
The man was me. Götz Schmitt. And I was obsessed with that idea.
From vision to reality
“Forget it,” they said.
“That never works,” they said.
“Stick with normal wood,” they said.
But normal ideas don't change the world.
So I started. With a container. A garage as a warehouse. And the firm conviction that bamboo can change the world.
From the garage to the world
And 30 years later?
- One container turned into thousands.
- From the garage to a global network.
- A new standard from a crazy idea.
Today, architects from Toronto to Tel Aviv are installing our decking boards.
Luxury hotels in Dubai, Hawaii, and Zanzibar rely on our products. Large residential complexes and sports facilities are carrying out projects with AMBOOO.
And the world’s largest equestrian facilities? They trust our decking boards.
And yes, the doubters from back then?
They're knocking on our door today.
Ask about our secrets.
But real innovation cannot be copied.
But it was never easy.
We've done some research. Tested They've failed. We've started over again. Over and over again.
Until we did it: Bamboo 2.0, manufactured using our own HCS processing process since 2018. The top clip that revolutionized publishing. Special care products that did not exist before.
Why bamboo changes everything
Imagine: While a tree takes 100 years to grow, bamboo shoots up to one meter. Per day.
While a forest is cleared and disappears forever, bamboo regrows. Over and over again. By itself.
And the best part? Thanks to its properties, bamboo offers entirely new possibilities. It’s harder than most hardwoods and tropical woods, and its color can be customized to suit your taste.
It's not a dream of the future. That is today. That's AMBOOO.
More than just a company
Today, we're a team of bamboo-obsessed people.
From future thinkers.
From people who don't accept that the construction industry must destroy our planet.
We know each of our partners in Asia personally.
Know exactly how our plants grow.
How they are harvested - by hand and not by deforestation.
